really quick i'm going to post some pictures of what we've done lately. the most exciting thing was that we went to washington d.c. for our anniversary a few weeks ago. and the most exciting thing we did there was a nighttime segway tour of the city! it was SO AWESOME. i thought i would be embarrassed to be going around the city on those things, but it was a ton of fun. we also met up with tommy's brother-in-law, travis, who was living there finishing up some work before going back to utah to be with his family before their new twins (!!) were born. so here are some pictures:
this is me and good old edgar allan poe. tommy had the great idea to stop at the official edgar allan poe museum in richmond, va, on our way up to dc. it was a perfect road-trip side stop. eddie is the bomb.

also, even before that, sarah drove all the way down to n.c. from new york to visit us! she helped us unpack and organize our apartment, and we made some really good pesto pasta and bruschetta together and then we took her to the only place we knew about in the area to eat--the Q shack. it was fabulous. and she wins super points for being the best friend ever and driving 10 hours to see us just a few days before she started her very own cross-country drive to get BACK to provo.
and last but not least, we are getting a little bit more familiar with the area. we went to the raleigh temple for the first time last week (it's the same basic layout as newport beach, but less unique inside) and we also went and explored duke campus a little bit. they've got a huge beautiful chapel on campus and huge beautiful gardens about ten feet from tommy's building, so it's a pretty cool place to work and study. jealous? come visit us. it'll be awesome.
and thaaaaaat's about all we've been doing lately. we're both keeping up with school but mine is a LOT less time-consuming than i imagined it would be so i'm trying to find new hobbies, because reading all day every day is actually getting a little bit boring. if anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. muchas gracias.

I think you guys look so awesome. You should wear yellow hazard vests with lights attached more often. you'll stand out.
I love the aprons from Hermana Maria! Great job. I also love the pictures of Duke and the NC landscape. I can't wait till we get to see it in person.

The picture of you and Tommy on the segway... classic. Love it, glad you guys are finding time for tons of fun... My only idea for a new hobby to keep you busy is getting called as RS Pres. That would be super-awesome! :)
