Conference Weekend and Easter

We felt so lucky to have visitors here for General Conference and Easter weekend. The Leiningers came here for Kenzie's spring break, along with Kristen and Kurt. It was an awesome week for them to come, because they were here for Conference, Easter, and Graham's birthday, so we automatically had a lot of fun things to do and celebrate with them. We didn't do too much super extraordinary for Conference, but it was great for all of us to get to watch it together. The kids didn't do too badly either, so we were all able to mostly pay attention. (Although I definitely need to go back and read most of the talks to remember anything specific!) It was nice to be together to hear all of the exciting new announcements and to participate in the solemn assembly to sustain our new prophets. We had a lot of good things to talk about and wonder about after each session. For Easter, we just did the normal Easter baskets and a small Easter egg hunt for the kids in the backyard, and a nice big dinner of Easter ham and funeral potatoes that night.

I don't think I will ever get a good picture of our kids with their Easter baskets. I feel like they always look shell-shocked and unimpressed.

I was trying really hard to get a cute picture of Lucy with some Easter eggs and it was hard to do. She is so busy and never stays still, so it's impossible to get a good picture of her.

I had some activities for the boys to do during Conference--like "build a temple out of blocks" or playing with these legos from the dollar section at Target. But the highlight of Conference for them was the "Jesus bowl" as Graham called it--a bowl of MnMs they could take when they heard the speakers say "Jesus Christ." It made them pay great attention and every time they heard it they would yell "Jesus!" and run grab an MnM. Definitely not the most reverent thing, but at least they look forward to Conference and aren't screaming at us to play with them like they used to do.

On Sunday morning, an hour before Conference was supposed to start, Dane set up his table in front of the TV with a little notebook so he could take notes and be ready for Conference. 

Dane was also really excited about April Fool's Day too. He kept playing jokes on us. His favorite one was this note he had Kiki help him write, pretending it was from Austin and saying "Dear Tommy, you are actually a fish, and I'm going to eat you!" Dane thought it was sooo funny. It was pretty cute.
