weddings, anniversaries, peace, love, and joy

can i just give a big sigh of relief? we are DONE with our travels for the summer (although in just a few weeks we're planning some more road trips . . . including up to d.c. for another cousin wedding and out to nashville to visit the lovely busbys) but no more planes for us for a while. and since we went on something like 14 different flights this summer, that feels pretty good.

but i'm still catching up. now we're going totally out of chronological order, but weddings trump all other traveling, of course. we were in california for three days, and we went to two weddings: tommy's old roommate and our friend jordan's, and of course my sister's. jordan timed his wedding just so we could be there (because we're really important) and we had a good time seeing him and many other friends who traveled down for the wedding.

and then for the main event! i feel kind of bad because we didn't take very many pictures (i actually didn't take any, tommy took all the ones we have) mainly because it seems ridiculous to take pictures at weddings when everyone else is doing the same thing, with much nicer cameras. but HOORAY for brandon and camille and she looked beautiful and fantastic and all those lovely things. i think my poor mom was about to have a nervous breakdown before it all went down but it really turned out so nicely!

have i mentioned how tommy is a major, major favorite in the under-eight crowd in my extended family? these three girls love him. and i love alec laughing in the background.

and THEN, we flew home on a red-eye flight and landed on our anniversary! after i taught my class and went to another, we came home and . . . slept. and then we went out to dinner to celebrate. these pictures are not very romantic, but we wanted to document what we did for our anniversary a little bit at least. appetizers at toast (yum YUM), dinner at cuban revolution, and a shake from cook out was the perfect combination.

(don't judge us, we were really jet-lagged and tired.) but hey, HAPPY TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY to us and all that jazz. i know people usually do a romantic and thoughtful post on their anniversary, but all i'm going to say is we are thoroughly happy with our decision to get married and our life afterwards. we discussed it last night and there isn't anything we would change about our lives right now--they're just about perfect. it really has been the best two years. thank goodness for tommy and thank goodness for marriage.
