MEXICO

One huge thing we planned for this trip out west was that we wanted to go on a trip--on our own--while my parents watched Dane for us. And we were soooooooooo excited! Our five-year anniversary is this summer, so we thought this was a totally appropriate time period for us to try and do a trip on our own. My mom was more than willing to watch Dane for us (thank you! thank you!) so we bought a trip through Costco Travel (who knew?) to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for four nights. And ohhhhh my gosh, we were so looking forward to it. We have had so much craziness going on the last few months, and so much craziness to come the next few, that getting a short relaxing vacation was something that I have been REALLY looking forward to it. And we knew that Dane was going to have a blast here in CA with Grandma and Grandpa without us, so we didn't have any qualms about leaving him. But oh, we missed him SO MUCH--I couldn't wait to see him again when we got back. But it was really worth it. . . . we had such a nice time! Our goal for the trip was just TOTAL RELAXATION--which I think we accomplished. We each read five books while we were there, we each got a massage and a facial (so fun!), and we probably gained about ten pounds from eating so much. It was perfect.

We got there and the maids had spelled out "Happy Anniversary" on our bed in little rocks (since we'd apparently said on our reservation that we were celebrating it).

We stayed at this awesome resort, Pueblo Bonito Pacifica, which was perfect for us. It was small and easily accessible, not too crowded, with amazing food, and right on the beach. The beach was pretty much always empty, there was a spa and swim-up bar, they would bring your food right to your beach chair, and our food was all included--what more could you ask for?

The view from our room--not too shabby!

We couldn't believe we were eating dinner with the beach in view!

Reading and relaxing on the beach--basically all we did all week.

Oh, just a couples massage ON THE BEACH. No biggie! (Just kidding, we were absolutely giddy the whole time we were thinking about it!)

Tommy could not get enough of those pina coladas (virgen, of course). This was the most giant one we'd ever seen!

The one excursion we did away from our hotel, we went snorkeling and paddle boarding. It was a perfect activity! We were both actually not too terrible at the paddle boarding, actually. We stayed up a lot longer than anyone else in our group, anyways. And the snorkeling was a lot of fun. We saw tons of fish, and we got to use those little motors to push ourselves around in the water.

The boat took us by the famous Cabo Arch as well.

The resort next to ours had this pool way high up on the mountain with an amazing view of the beach, so we went to visit it one afternoon.

Seriously, this trip was the BEST. We had an amazing time. It was so nice to get to sleep in a little bit and to just hang out together. I probably said "This is just heaven" about fifty times a day while we were there. It was the perfect length of trip as well--we were so, so happy to get back and see our boy, and we both felt totally refreshed and ready to tackle all the craziness coming up the next two months. Huge thanks to my mom for watching Dane for us too!

Amazing. I want to do this for my five-year anniversary! Every time Zach threw a tantrum last week, I thought of you two in Mexico and was envious!
